Vinho Verde

Vinho Verde is not a grape or a style but a region, in the far northwest, and the wine made there today bears little resemblance to the lightly spritzy terrace wine of thirty years ago. In the Monção e Melgaço subregion, Alvarinho gives full, structured whites that hold for years in bottle. Loureiro gives fresh wines with floral aromas and a saline finish. Both belong at the table: with shellfish, with grilled fish, with anything from the sea. We work here with Anselmo Mendes and Soalheiro, two names that helped lift this region.
